According to Mexico Industry, San Luis Potosí, strategically located in the heart of Mexico, has emerged as a highly competitive industrial development center, according to Juan Carlos Valladares, the state’s Secretary of Economic Development. The state’s geographic location, combined with its robust infrastructure, skilled workforce, and supportive government policies, has made it an attractive destination for global investments.
Valladares emphasized the state’s comprehensive offerings, particularly in the industrial sector, which include well-connected road and rail networks, industrial parks, reliable energy and water supplies, a high quality of life, and a dedicated workforce. «We have everything,» he stated.
In 2022, San Luis Potosí received $376.4 million in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), with significant contributions from the United States, Canada, Spain, Hong Kong, and the Netherlands. The automotive industry stands out as a key driver of this growth, with two major car manufacturers and over 250 suppliers operating within the state.
Looking ahead, Valladares highlighted new industrial park projects designed to accommodate international companies, and mentioned ongoing negotiations with around 20 potential investors. While the automotive sector remains dominant, other sectors such as metallurgy, home appliances, agriculture, mining, and tourism are also contributing to the state’s economic expansion.
San Luis Potosí’s unique advantages include its stable business environment, peaceful labor relations, and a strong focus on infrastructure development, mobility, and housing projects. The state’s collaboration with local universities and institutions is also critical in developing the skilled talent needed to meet industry demands.
«We are ready for any investment. The doors are open,» Valladares concluded, underscoring the state’s commitment to providing the conditions and certainty that investors seek.
