Mexico has achieved a historic milestone, ranking ninth globally in both exports and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), according to the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade (COMCE). In 2024, FDI is expected to grow by 8%, while exports are projected to increase by 3%, solidifying Mexico’s role as a key player in the global economy.
During the first quarter of 2024, Mexico received $20.3 billion in FDI, with projections of reaching $39 billion by year-end. This growth, driven by nearshoring, underscores international investors’ confidence in Mexico.
For exports, a record $610 billion is expected in 2024, led by the manufacturing sector, particularly the automotive and auto parts industries. Sergio Contreras, COMCE’s Executive Vice President, highlighted this as a historic moment for Mexico, positioning it as a global powerhouse in trade and investment.
