Mexico Reaffirms Commitment to Safeguard Private Investments

During the 14th edition of the U.S.-Mexico CEO Dialogue, President Claudia Sheinbaum delivered a clear message: private investments in Mexico will be protected. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, led by President Suzanne Clark, welcomed this commitment, especially in light of recent constitutional reforms that have raised concerns among foreign investors.

Key legal changes—spanning the judicial, energy, and mining sectors—have created uncertainty about Mexico’s alignment with the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Clark emphasized the importance of all partner countries fulfilling their obligation under the treaty to ensure economic cooperation and business stability.

Francisco Cervantes, President of the Mexican Business Coordinating Council (CCE), highlighted that, while global challenges persist, North America has a unique opportunity to strengthen its competitiveness through the relocation of supply chains (nearshoring).

The discussions during the dialogue focused on key areas such as trade facilitation, energy, climate policies, and services—strategic sectors that will shape the future of bilateral cooperation.

This dialogue sends a positive signal to international investors seeking certainty and opportunities in Mexico. With strong support from business leaders and renewed focus on regional integration, Mexico is committed to fostering sustainable and secure growth for foreign investments.
